The Dark Side
Some plastic can't or won't be recycled. There's usually an upside to the trash we generate, but sometimes there's a dark side. While recycling programs around the world are getting better and more convenient, there are still some items that aren't universally accepted. One item in question is black plastic. Some programs won't accept it because of the dyes used in production, and others won't because optical sorting machines won't recognize it. If your local program is fine with black plastic, then recycle as much of it as you can. If it doesn't, then don't buy items that come bottled or packed in that dark plastic.
